This American Bittern was working his way down the side of the bank on La Chua Trail. I don't think he saw me at first, but when he did, he went into his classic pose of blending in with the brown brush behind him. The only problem for him is that he forgot he was in the middle of green patch of vegetation. Notice how his eyes can peer around his beak at something below or in front of his position. He stayed motionless for about 10 minutes until I moved along.....
