FLORIDA COTTONMOUTH

This is the snake I almost stepped on at La Chua Trail, Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park. I was walking the trail, looking for, ironically enough, Florida Cottonmouth snakes. They usually are on the edge of the water in the brush. I was focused on that area, I did not see this one on the path in the middle until I almost stepped on it.
