YELLOW RAT SNAKE
I watched this little fella with amusement for about 5 minutes. He was at the fishing pier at Lake Lochloosa at the end of Burnt Island Road. He crawled into this hole in the aluminum guardrail of the fishing pier. When his head re-appeared, he noticed his tail. I really think that for a few moments, he gave some serious thought to biting his own tail. He appeared to believe that it might not be his own tail attached to him. He probed it with his tongue to check it out and then after a few minutes of contemplation, he crawled out and dropped down to the ground in search of something to eat.
